本剧改编自日本作家陈舜臣的同名小说，这部作品是台裔直木赏作家陈舜臣唯一一本以台湾为场景的长篇推理小说，这也是陈舜臣的作品首次在华文世界被影像化。 1946年，货船“朝风丸”载满了归心似箭的旅日台湾人回到基隆港。因侦破杀人案而声名大噪的中国留学生陶展文，也随着好友杨辉铭前来菩萨庄提亲，却遇上离奇的杀人案…。During the cold and rainy off-season a man arrives in a seaside town and, giving his name only as Pierre, checks into the only hotel which remains open. His arrival arouses curiosity and a degree of suspicion, as people note that he appears to know the area, yet gives no explanation for his presence at that bleak time of year in the dead-end town.。
