《棋士》以世纪初的南方城市为背景，讲述了一个普通的围棋老师崔业因一场意外卷入罪案，逐步走向犯罪，被身为警察的哥哥崔伟穷追不舍，兄弟二人黑白殊途的故事。。Juan, a prison officer, silently observes the visit every Sunday of Berta, mother of one of the imates. The day he finally approaches her, he surprises himself by pretending to be another visiting father and inventing a daughter inside the jail: Josefina. The need to fill the vacuum of their lives prompts Juan and Berta to continue meeting outside the reality around them.。
