本片改编自以山田风太郎的同名小说，由讲述为了解开里见家施加的诅咒而被命运吸引的8名年轻剑士们的战斗的《虚》，以及描写用28年时间写了180话的故事的作家泷泽马琴的真实故事的《实》两部分组成。役所广司饰演主人公马琴，内野圣阳饰演他的好友画家葛饰北斋。矶村勇斗马琴的儿子宗伯，黑木华宗伯的妻子·路，马寺岛忍饰演马琴的妻子·百，在《虚》部分掌握八犬士命运的伏姬由土屋出演。。一个普通的小男生伊萨姆和他那奇怪但可爱，又有点恶心的僵尸朋友展开了有趣的冒险。没人知道佐佐来自哪里，但这并不重要。他们的冒险总是始于兴趣，然后以佐佐可移动的器官、变形的的身体和其他奇妙生物的降临结束。虽然佐佐的心脏总是跑出身体，但是善良的本性不会离开它的身体，所以两个好朋友的每一天都伴随着笑声。。A strange man comes into a house with only the wife. He says he'll leave after a shower and a meal, but his actions are exactly like the husband's. What has happened? He says that he learned everything from a friend he knows...
