This short journey through Rishikesh, Bikaner and Gangtok with the ups and downs, the missed trains and taxi rides, the heartbreak and the mending of old friendships, the quarrels and self-discovery, sweeps Jaya and Yogi away, and indeed us...。明治初年，自幼因家境贫困而被送作养女的岛村势以（岡田茉莉子 饰）似乎绝少得到上天的垂怜，养父母在她20岁左右时去世，丈夫在婚后的第5年也撒手人寰，势以独自经营着养父母的茶店，并辛苦拉扯两个女儿长大。次女津也（名取裕子 饰）自幼喜爱画画，并有着卓越的天赋。在蒙师西内（風間杜夫 饰）和名师高木松溪（佐藤慶 饰）的调教下，津也逐渐在和画界崭露头角，并荣获数项大奖。然而荣耀的同时，她又不得不委身松溪，从此开始了身为女人宿命般的悲剧…… 本片根据小说家宫尾登美子的同名原著改编，并荣获1985年每日电影和蓝丝带奖最佳女配角奖（三田佳子）。。
